This guide is to help introduce players to Role-Playing on a RP Server on WAR. First as everyone should know WAR is a MMORGP (massively multiplayer online role-play game), and or course the RPG part of the anagram stands for Role-Playing Game. As other MMO game, Warhammer Online allow players get experience to finish War power leveling. There is a big difference though from playing a role-playing game and role-playing while playing a game. Role-Playing while playing WAR involved creating a character and his history, deciding or discovering the characters likes and dislikes, how the character will react to the situations they are placed in, and being a part of the Role-Playing community. You can control your character as you wanna, but you ought to accumulate War XP (War powerleveling) if you hope to be going on this game!

Creating the character

When creating a character for a RP server there is more than just the mechanics of character creation found with in the game. You will want to at least get an idea of who your character is. Is your Warrior Priest the 3rd son of a noble who joined the priest hood because his brothers forced him out of any inheritance, is he bitter? Or is your Chosen that third son and to get back at the Empire that left him penny less and powerless found the power of Chaos a way to get revenge. You do not have to get complex with a history to start with, just find an idea to start with, after all you are only a level 1 character, not much has happened to you..... yet. A character should not be a static creation. Once you are playing the game certain events should mold and shape the character. Does a certain MOB continually kill the character or is there a character or character class that always seem to get the better of the character. If so is the character the type to become afraid of that mob, even when he is max level and can one shot them, or is he the type to swear vengeance against all Squig Herders and hunt them down no matter what. Again don't let things be static, should the character always be afraid of the MOB that killed him over and over... that depends, maybe while in a group a hoard of that mob attacked but the group easily slautered them and the character found it very therapeutic. Another thing that can influence a character is loot, does she become fascinated with certain types of objects. At an early level did the character find a blue hilted sword that helped him win a great battle and decide to make sure that everything he wears matches that sword from then on. Of course these are just examples.

Being a good role-player

First off everyone who logs in wants to have fun. To some fun is playing the game with out the added layer of role-playing and some are out for the compleat immersion into role-playing and of course there are all places in between. There are as many styles of role-playing as there are people. As a MMORPG, every quest for players should consider attractive and interesting so that it can make players go on to complete these and finish War power-leveling.

First and for most stay in character. That means don't talk about the mechanics of the game, in the Warhammer world you will never hear High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer spoken about by an NPC as a lvl 40 rr80 dwarf, but someone may say his beard is longer than all but a few other dwarves. This is one of the hardest things to break yourself of when starting in a RP server. Talking about stats, level, gear stats ect is something you see all the time in a normal server but in a RP server it is reserved for OOC. OOC or Out Of Character is when you are talking about things your character would not. Some people use (( text )) and some put ooc in front of what they are saying. Make sure you try to do this when on a rp server.

If you are new, go with the flow. Have fun and try not to step on to many toes. If you let folks know you are new to role-playing they will probably cut you some slack or even offer some good tips or suggestions.
